My mother, Antoinette "Toni" Gibbs lost her battle with cancer and joined my Dad, Donald J Gibbs this past Tuesday, March 10th. My mom did the best that she could in raising, some would say corralling, two rambunctious, sports addicted boys (especially her ADHD little terror...yours truly). There were so many late dinners to accommodate sports practices, trips to the ER for various sports and goofing off injuries, broken household items (from those aforementioned boys), and the multitude of emotional sacrifices that come with raising children...that I never really understood until I had my own. When I was a teenager I was so sure of how unjust and unfair she and my dad were, and then came to the realization of how wise she was when I found myself repeating it to my own kids.
Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough for everything Mom did for me..but I have no other words. Thank you for raising me to be the person and parent I am today. I will miss our conversations about Politics, Movies, Monty Python, and the Bad Puns you loved so much. Mostly though, I will miss never being able to call you again and say "Hey mom, it's Geoff....you know the younger one" and hear the sound of your voice. Thankfully I do see you, and Dad, every day when I look in the mirror and when I look in the faces of my children. I am so thankful that your pain is over and I love you more than I could ever put into words
