Andrew Deraney

Obituary of Andrew James Deraney

Andrew James Deraney, Sr. (“Andy”), age 80, of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, passed away on January 13, 2019. He was born and raised in West Roxbury, MA, before moving to Brooklyn, NY, and eventually moving to Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, where he and his wife lived for nearly 50 years.

He worked as a financial administrator at IBM for the majority of his career, then worked in the same capacity at Pearson Education until his retirement.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Adrienne, along with their three adult children, son Andrew, Jr. (“Drew”), and daughters Dawn Marinello and Danielle Beccarelli. Andy was also the proud, adoring Papa to his five cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas and Emma Deraney, and Alexis and Lauren Beccarelli.

Andy’s wit and intellect are only matched by his tremendous capacity to love –  love of family, God, Country and, of course, the Boston Red Sox. He left an indelible mark on all those who had the honor of knowing him. His deep laugh, sense of humor and sparkling eyes lit up a room. He will be missed beyond words, and leaves behind memories that will forever sustain and guide us. We are infinitely grateful for having such a brilliant, wise, funny, compassionate and loving husband, father and grandfather.
