Obituary of Robert McGee "Red" Outerbridge
Robert McGee "Red" Outerbridge passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the age of 93. Born in Danbury, CT, and raised in Newark, NJ he was a long time resident of Glen Rock before moving to Wyckoff. At the age of 17, Red left high school to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during WW II where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Prior to retiring from
the Miller Brewing Company in Cranford, Red was a Sales Manager for Rheingold Breweries. He was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff and formerly St. Catharine’s Church in Glen Rock, was active in youth sports in Glen Rock starting in 1958 and was the second president of the Glen Rock Junior Football Association.
Red is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Rose Outerbridge; daughter Debra Roeder, her husband Douglas, son Kevin Outerbridge, his wife Liz; six grandchildren: Courtney, (Brian), Erin (Jake), Kelly (Freddy), Logan (Meganne), Kyle (Christine) and Collin; 11 great grandchildren; a brother Edward McGee and two sisters Loretta Hissong and Patricia McGee. Red is also predeceased by nine brothers and sisters and a great grandson Grant. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Interment will follow at the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. Contributions in Red’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
