Obituary of Gennaro Cosco

Gennaro “Geno” Cosco passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2017. Born in Utica, NY, to Carmen & Gladys Cosco, Gene was raised on Long Island, NY. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. Upon returning home, he attended Hofstra University where he met the love of his life, Jane, and later graduated with a degree in business. The two were married and moved to New Jersey where they bought properties to renovate. The Cosco’s are a loving, adventurous bunch and always enjoy being surrounded by family and friends, whether at their vacation home Gene built with his own two hands in Vermont, fishing in Key West, or surrounding the giant kitchen island he expanded to entertain. He was an extremely generous man and wherever he went there was sure to be way more than enough food. He was a straight talker, always inspiring unapologetic truth all around him. He and Jane dedicated themselves to developing a lively, loving home, raising two bright, wonderful, strong women, working hard to be able to enjoy all the beauty life had to offer. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jane Cosco; his two daughters: Jennifer Cosco & Lindsay Holt, her husband Denver and a grandson Daxon. The Cosco family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4 PM until 7 PM with a Memorial Service commencing at 3:30 PM and military honors to be rendered at 4:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home,(vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gene’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 3001 Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA, 17011.
