Obituary of Charles Griffin

GRIFFIN, Charles J. age 79 of Waldwick, died peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Charlie was born in Paterson on November 12, 1929. Charlie worked for the Little Falls Alloy's in Paterson for more than 43 years before his retirement in 1994. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church in Wyckoff and a member of the Paramus Senior Citizens Club #1. Surviving is his wife Mary (nee O'Connor), his children, Dennis Griffin and his wife Kathy of Lincoln Park, Penny and her husband Harold Schweizer of Haledon and Bonny and her husband Emile Campbell of Roselle. His step-children, Patrick Hammer of Ft. Lee, Kathleen Hammer of Wallington, Mary and her husband Ronald Lustberg of Fair Lawn and Michael Hammer and his wife Stephanie. Charlie also leaves his grandchildren, Tina, Dennis, Tammi, Breana, Tricia, Matthew and Michael, his great grandson, Justin and his great great grandson, Rylee. He also leaves his brother Peter Griffin of Fair Lawn and his sister Gertrude Kuzcynski of Wayne. Charlie was pre-deceased by his first wife, Priscilla (nee Comer) in 1992 and his granddaughter, Denise Schmink in 2009. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 9:30 am from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will follow 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will be in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. Visiting is Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
