Obituary of Alfred Banas

BANAS, Alfred, age 79, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 30, 2009. Born in Buffalo, NY, he lived in Wyckoff since 1964. Alfred was Credit Analyst with General Chemical Corporation of Parsippany until retiring in 2006. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He had a love of flying from an early age and was a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). He also was a member of Activities Unlimited. Alfred was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church of Wyckoff. Alfred is survived by his beloved wife Adelia (Zablotski) to whom he was married for 48 wonderful years, his son Roger and wife Peggy, his daughter Amy and husband Jeff Dunko and four grandchildren: Emily, Daniel, Alex and Ethan. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters. Cremation was private. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Friday, 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Memorial Service, Saturday, 2:00 PM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, would be appreciated.
