Obituary of Betty Knapp

KNAPP, Betty W., age 88, of Jupiter, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 25, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence B. Knapp. She leaves behind her children Barbara and husband Tom Batten, Daniel and wife Lucille Talbot, Nancy and husband Patrick Muldowney; her grandchildren, Dan Batten, Kelly Batten Liberati, and Rachel, Jillian and Brooke Muldowney. She was born in Mt. Vernon, NY, and grew up in Ridgewood, NJ. She loved reminiscing about her days as a Ridgewood High School cheerleader and later driving a truck in support of the war effort. She lived in Franklin Lakes, NJ, for over 30 years. After retiring from her position as Executive Secretary at American Cyanamid in Wayne, NJ, she moved to Jupiter, FL, where she resided for over 20 years. She spent her retirement playing tennis, traveling and enjoying a very active social life with many close friends. Always striving to learn, Betty attended classes at Florida Atlantic University and volunteered at Jupiter Medical Center. After her husband's death in 2012, she moved back to New Jersey to be close to family. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, March 28 from 5-8 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
