Obituary of Grace Van Leeuwen

VAN LEEUWEN, Grace (nee Douma) age 87, died peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Born in the Netherlands on August 18, 1924, Grace came to the United States settling with her family in Prospect Park in1955. She moved to Toms River in 1977 and then moved back to Wyckoff in 1999. Grace was a member of the Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prospect Park. Her enjoyments in life were sewing, baking and visiting and helping the shut-ins. Surviving are her daughters, Fenna Reitsma and Adria Broersma, her five grandchildren, Jason, Rachel and Jessica Pier and Adam and Cory Broersma, her great granddaughter Julie Pier and great grandson Jeremy Pier. Grace also leaves her brothers and sisters in the Netherlands, Jan, Sjouke and Flip Douma and Anneke Mulder and Tjikke Wielenga. Grace was pre-deceased by her husband Jacob A. Van Leeuwen in 1986, her grandson Sean Broersma in 2005 and her great grandson, Jacob Pier in 2007. The Van Leeuwen family will receive family and friends on Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Unity Christian Reformed Church, 339 North 11th Street, Prospect Park. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting , NJ on Wednesday at 11:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Health Care Center Employee Fund, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
