Obituary of Edward Manolt
Manolt, Edward J., age 87 of Waldwick died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood. He was born in Queens, NY and had been a long time resident of Waldwick. Ed has been a parishioner of St. Luke's RC Church, Ho-Ho-Kus since 1954. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. Ed was member of the VFW Post 1049 and active with The Golden Club both of Waldwick. Ed began his career with the Erie Railroad and took great pride in holding many positions throughout the years as the Erie Railroad became Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Conrail Railroad and retiring as a Communications Systems Engineer with New Jersey Transit Railroad. After retirement, Ed discovered great enjoyment in traveling near and far to places some only dream of. Ed is survived by his children and grandchildren who will miss him dearly; Edward Manolt and his wife, Anita of Queensbury, NY, Eileen Cariello and her husband, Michael of Ringwood, NJ, Mary Garbaccio and her husband Cliff of Waldwick, NJ, and Lorraine Walker and her husband, Barry of Bridgewater, NJ and his grandchildren; Kathleen and Jacob Manolt, James and Thomas Cariello, Daniel, Anthony and Kevin Garbaccio, and Sarah Walker. Ed was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Butler) Manolt in 2005. The family would like to express their gratitude to Ed's caregivers, Janet and Jiri for the loving attention, care and friendship shown to their father. Visiting will be held on Sunday 1-4pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, 10:00 am at St. Luke's RC Church, 340 Franklin Tpke., Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory may be made to St. Luke's RC Church or to the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corp., P.O. Box 244, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
