Obituary of John Barton

John H. Barton, age 56, of Coppell, TX passed away on Friday, July 27, 2007. He was born on December 29, 1950 in Paterson, NJ to Robert Allen Barton, Sr. and Janet Webster Reinheimer. He married Kathryn Louise Johnson on May 25, 1997 in Dallas, TX. Raised in Glen Rock, NJ where his father owned a hardware store, he was active in baseball in elementary and junior high school. Football was his sport at Glen Rock High School. John received his bachelor's degree from Bryant College in Smithfield, RI and his master's degree in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson in Teaneck, NJ. At the time of his death he was the vice president and chief financial officer of Maclean, Oddy and Associates, Inc., located in downtown Dallas. John enjoyed playing and collecting guitars, basset hounds, was involved in basset hound rescue, and was an avid sports fan, the Yankees and Cowboys being his favorite teams. His two daughters, Andi and Kati were very special to him and he was a wonderful father. John always expressed such joy in his daughters and was proud of their accomplishments. He passed his love of baseball to his daughters, coaching their softball teams. He also adored his wife Kathryn and he was a wonderful partner, lover and best friend. His warm nature, generosity and great sense of humor were a rare combination and he will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his wife Kathryn of Coppell, TX. His two daughters from a former marriage; Kathryn Fraley and husband Chad of Lewisville, TX and Andrea Barton and her daughter Emily Barton of Lewisville, TX. Other survivors include his brother Robert Barton and wife Ruth and their son David of Ramsey, NJ as well as many friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the North Texas Basset Hound Rescue 3064 High Ridge Drive, Grapevine, TX 76051 or any other charity of choice. Funeral services were held in Texas. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2007, 10 AM at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
