Obituary of William Van Dyk
VAN DYK, William Paul, age 88 of Hawthorne, died peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Born in Hawthorne, NJ, Bill lived in Paterson and Glen Rock before moving to Hawthorne 63 years ago. He was a Route Salesman and office worker for the Sicomac Dairy in Wyckoff for 59 years before his retirement in 2006. Bill was a member of Hawthorne Gospel Church and attended the Grace Bible Church in North Haledon. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years Helen (nee Hodel), his devoted children, William Van Dyk, Jr. and his wife Lynda, Glenn Van Dyk and his wife Henny, and Karen and her husband Duane Hoogerhyde. Bill also leaves his 8 adoring grandchildren, Stephanie, Jessica, Danielle, Jonathan, David, Maegan, Jayson, and Jordan, his 3 great grandchildren, Joey, Peyton, and Benjamin and his sister and brothers, Barbara, Howard and Donald Van Dyk. Bill was pre-deceased by his brother John Vander Hook. The Van Dyk family will receive family and friends on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 9:30 until 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Grace Bible Church, 369 High Mountain Road, North Haledon, NJ 07508. Interment will be in the Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the missions fund of Grace Bible Church.
