Obituary of Edmund Kirksey
KIRKSEY, Edmund T. age 83 of Wyckoff, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the New Jersey State Firemen's Home in Boonton, NJ. Ed was born in Albany, NY on September 3, 1924. He lived in Ft. Lee before moving to Wyckoff 46 years ago. Ed was an Ironworker for the District Council Ironworkers Local 483 in Paterson, NJ before his retirement in 1985. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps, a former member and captain of the Ft. Lee Volunteer Fire Dept. Company #4, and a member of the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Dept. Protection Fire Company #1. Surviving are his devoted children, Kathie and her husband Jeff Boltzer of Pompton Lakes, Patty Reiner of Fair Lawn, and Ed Kirksey of Wyckoff. Ed also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Jeff, Matt, Kate and Chris. Ed is predeceased by his wife Helen in 1989. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 10:00am, from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will follow in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visiting is Tuesday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm with a Fire Department service at 8:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Jersey Firemen's Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005.
