Obituary of Heinz Richter

RICHTER, Heinz F. age 71, died peacefully surrounded by his family at home in Waldwick. Heinz was born in Treppendorf, Germany on September 6, 1936. After arriving in the U.S. he served in the United States Army. He lived in Montvale before moving to Waldwick 5 years ago. He was a mechanic for Tilcon Construction in Prospect Park, NJ for many years before his retirement in 1998. Heinz was a parishioner of the Advent Lutheran Church in Wyckoff, NJ, and the Brownsville Community Church in West Windsor, VT. He was Secretary/Treasurer of the New Jersey District, and National Director of the Workmen's Benefit Fund and served as President of Branch 178. He was a board member of the Recreational Farm Society, Inc. and also served as vice president. Heinz served many years as president of the Property Owners Association of the Ascutney Mountain Resort, and was trustee of the Mt. Edge Condo Association, in Brownsville, VT. Surviving are his loving wife of 31years, Betty Ann (nee Levy), his devoted daughters, Suzanne and her husband Tommy Weir of Wyckoff, NJ and Christine and her husband Dennis Vajda of Midland Park, NJ. Heinz also leaves his 5 adoring grandchildren, Julie, Matthew, Samantha, Nicole and Jessica along with his sister Anneliese Boxhammer of Stroudsburg, PA and his brother Gerhardt Richter of Germany. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 am at the Advent Lutheran Church, 777 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. Visiting is Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Aveue, Wyckoff, NJ.
