Obituary of Henry Vanden Berg
VANDEN BERG, Henry age 86 of Naples, FL formerly of Franklin Lakes, died peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013. Born in Glen Rock to Barney and Tena (nee Baker), Henry lived in Midland Park before moving to Franklin Lakes and Mahwah and then to Naples, FL. Henry served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Navy. He was the owner and president of the Henry Vanden Berg Construction Company before retiring in 1990. Henry was a member of the Irving Park Christian Reformed Church and the Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church. Surviving are his devoted children, Barbara and her husband Bill Braunius, Henry and his wife Karen, Ronald and his wife Bonnie, Roger and his wife Sherri and Carol and her husband Randy Lagestee. He also leaves his 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, his sister Henriette Belanus and his brother Gary Vanden Berg. Henry was pre-deceased by his wife Minnie (nee Gnade) and his sister Ann Clement. A memorial service will be held Friday 11:00 AM at the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 530 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff. The Vanden Berg family will receive family and friends at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff on Thursday 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Christian Children's Retreat, 700 Mountain Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
