Obituary of Robert Odell

Odell, Robert B., Jr. age 60 of Franklin Lakes, died Friday, January 6, 2012. Born in Jersey City, Bob lived in Bayonne and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Mamone. During their 38 years of marriage they shared a loving and fulfilling life. Together they raised two sons, Robert B. III, 31 and Michael, 27, who plan to be married in June and July 2012. He received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Masters Degree in Management Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken. Upon graduation, he joined Becton Dickinson where he spent all 36 years of a very successful career. He was instrumental in developing new technologies and high speed manufacturing capabilities for prefilled syringes and safety lock. He holds 26 patents in these areas and for various additional medical devices. In 2008, he received the Howe Lifetime Achievement Award. During his retirement, he spent his time volunteering at Soaringwords Hospital Outreach, CERT of Franklin Lakes, and mentoring boys of single parent homes. He is survived by his siblings and spouses, Linda Postell (Gary), Donna Wyrwa (Bob) and, Brian Odell (Gail). He also leaves his Aunt Kitty and several nieces and nephews. The Odell family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 117 Franklin Avenue, Oakland, NJ. Entombment will be in Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
