My sincere condolences to the Brooks Family. I had the pleasure of working with Don in Washington DC and am saddened to hear the news. I remember being a young manager on his engagement and had to handle a very delicate client situation. I will never forget how he helped me navigate this matter. He was a great partner and a great leader, and will be missed by all.

Sincere condolences to Gina, Gregory, Steven, David and your extended family. I was lucky enough to work with Don for several years in New York when he was the Metro Financial Services leader and I was his HR leader. He was such a strong influence on me in so many ways - to this day the care he showed for me professionally and personally has left an indelible mark. We would have intense, heated debates and yet always left them with the utmost sense of respect - I couldn't have asked for anything more in a Leader. Gina and the kids were his absolute top priority - he spoke of all of you with such pride and I am only sorry I never got the chance to meet you. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. Sharon Griffin

Sincere sympathies to the Brooks family. While my interactions with Don were few, they were all memorable. He was a partner who stood for and demonstrated many of the characteristics that have made PwC a great place to work. Thank you.

To the Brooks family: I will always be greatful that I knew Don- for almost 35 years. I will always remember his willingness to have a point of view, share it - and stand behind it- regardless of what others thought, as well as his compassion when others were in need. I am thankful that he was my partner at C&L and PwC. We were all in it together- he wouldn't have it any other way.

I met Don shortly after the merger. We had a difficult client situation and as the leader of the practice, he was brought in to help assuage an unhappy client. I was impressed by the time Don took to understand the facts, the people and the dynamics.... was more impressed when he put all that information through his own filter and presented our position in a firm, strong but sympathetic manner...and then was even more impressed (and somewhat surprised) when after the meeting he let loose--in a firm, strong, but not very sympathetic manner--on where he thought we should have done more and better. That was Don. We spoke fairly often, I can hear him saying in that inimitable voice, Baird...we have a problem." But what I always appreciated was his love for the firm and its people and his commitment not only do doing what was right but to facing the facts as they were and not as we might have wanted them to be. He could be noisy about his views, but he was always worth listening to. He will be missed.

I will always remember Don's irreverence and wit. He was a great partner at C&L/PwC and will be greatly missed. He was taken from us way too soon.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Brooks Family. Keep your fondest memories close to your heart and each day will get a bit better. I was admitted to the C&L partnership with Don and we stayed in touch regularly although I was in Memphis, TN and he in NYC. Great partner and friend.

To my dear Godmother and cousins - All those lucky enough to know Don are grieving tonight, but the sweet memories of his love, thoughfulness, and energy are still with us. Even though I was Gina's goddaughter, Don always treated me like his own. He was so wonderful to me. Thinking of my cousins during this difficult time. Love you guys.
