As your neighbor and friend we spent a lot of time together. In short, John was the guy I wanted to be like. Strong and tough, but also funny and kind- a guy who stood by his friends and family. I remember having difficult times with my family and Job consoling me in the basement of his parents' house in Ridgewood-that meant an awful lot to me. I loved John.

Bob and Family---I was so deeply saddened when John Nagle via Lawrence Pohl gave me the news earlier this week of your son's tragic death this past Saturday. This took me to a very deep almost inconsolable place as it brought back all the pain from my own son's death at his own hands on March 1st of this year. I feel and know your pain....and I am deeply sorry that you are having to go through this. A dear 85 year old French lady we are friends with said one of the most comforting things to my wife and I when our son Michael took his own life and I would like to share it with you Bob.....she said, "sometimes a person's pain is just too great for them to continue to endure and they have a right to end it. We are then left with the sadness and pain until we realize and accept that we had nothing to do with it and there was nothing we could do to prevent it"! Nothing will stop the pain but hopefully knowing that John, like our Michael, is no longer being tormented by whatever tormented them will provide some relief for you and your family. Bob you are wonderful cheerful, positive man and I am so sorry you and your family are having to suffer this way---may your love for one-another pull you all through this. Randy and Phyllis Cook

Dear Jackie, Bob and family. We realize that your world has been turned upside down and hope that you are being comforted by the thoughts and compassion of others who are sharing this sorrow with you. John was special to us and we feel blessed to have had him in our lives. We shall always remember that great smile of his and his wonderful sense of humor. And, he was always so sweet to give up his room to us whenever we stayed overnight. We are very sorry that we cannot be with you, but please know that our prayers, thoughts, love and hearts are with each of you.

Aunt Jackie, Uncle Bob, Pam, Kim, and family- I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I cherish the memories of our families spending time together when we were little- especially at Christmas time and "Santa" coming to visit. John will be missed by many. Sending love and prayers from Illinois. Kris

John had such a big heart. He generously shared his time and talent and was always there to aid others when they needed help. I will never forget the many times John came to my rescue. He moved all my possessions not once but several times. Most of those moves involved two or three flights of narrow, twisting stairs. Then after he got me moved in, John helped me unpack and get settled. He was truly a life-saver. Despite the hard work, John joked and laughed, putting everyone at ease with his wonderful sense of humor. I will always remember John's great laugh.

Dear Jackie, Bob, Pam and Kim, There is nothing we can say that will lessen the pain of John's death — we wish there were. We can only imagine your heartache. You've got each other, plus your family's and friends' love and support. And you have good memories of John to help you get through this miserable time. With our love — sadly, Lynn and Kit

John, I have so many memories of you from the wrestling mat, the football field, Ben Franklin Middle School, Ridgewood High School, and Graydon pool. One of my favorite memories, though, was your birthday party at Action Park, and the feast following it at Bachagaloops in Wayne.
I still have the Bacahagaloops t-shirt from that day, and every time I see it I think about how much fun we had that day. I almost threw it out recently, but now I will keep it for the rest of my life in your memory. It was many years ago, but sometimes it seems like yesterday. God bless you, and tell Wayne and Tuch I said hi as they take you to heaven.

During this difficult time I would like to extend my most heartfelt sympathies. If you need a friend to help you through this, you know who to call. I wanted to pass along that john had a big impact on my life. he gave me my first AA book. he just left it on my car wrapped in a plastic bag when he was leaving my mothers house after painting the living room. He did not pressure me, i moved to NC and really never thanked him, i have been good for over 2 years and will always regret not relaying my thanks to him. John will me missed, i hope and pray that the family will heal in time. God Bless - pat
