Obituary of Leslie Wizemann

WIZEMANN, Leslie Carl, age 95, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. Born in the Bronx, NY, he had lived in Wyckoff for the last 58 years. Les attended NYU and graduated from Cooper Union in New York City. He was a chemical engineer with Allied Chemical Company of Morristown for 35 years until retiring in 1972. A civic minded man, he was involved in the formation of the Wyckoff YMCA and the regionalization of the Ramapo High School. He was the Wyckoff representative of the Bergen County Democratic Party for many years. He was a founder and charter member of the Advent Lutheran Church of Wyckoff. Les is survived by his four loving children; his daughter Karen L. Campbell of Ho-Ho-Kus, his son Leslie C. and his wife Patricia of Waldwick, his daughter Susan K. Brislin and her husband William of Mahwah, and his daughter Diane C. Backhaus and her husband Albert of Oakland. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Peter, Jr. and his wife Colleen, Debbie and her husband Sam, Wendy, Eric and his wife Janine, Lauren, Jonathan, and Christopher and five great-grandchildren; Peter, III, Caitlin, Craig, Molly, and Elise. Les was predeceased by his beloved wife Catherine (nee Nelson) to whom he was married for 54 blessed years. Friends may visit the family on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com) 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. A funeral service celebrating Les' life will take place on Saturday, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment, Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Advent Lutheran Church 777 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481, would be appreciated.
