Obituary of Michael Rybak

RYBAK, Michael Joseph age 79 of Franklin Lakes, died peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Hospice of Hackensack after a long struggle with Parkinson Disease. Michael was born in Poznan, Poland on September 9, 1928. Michael came to the United States in 1965 settling with his family in Elmwood Park. He lived in Wallington, East Rutherford and Clifton before moving to Franklin Lakes in 1999. Michael lived through the hardships of the German occupation of Poland during World War II, he served in the Polish Army and apposed the communist rule during the Poznan freedom riots of 1956. Michael was a plumber/pipe fitter for Hoffman La Roche in Nutley for 18 years before his retirement. He was a former parishioner of Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Wallington, and presently at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes. Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Aleksandra J. (nee Michalski), his devoted son Tomasz M. Rybak and his wife Karen Ann (Lindley) of Franklin Lakes, and his adoring grandson Matthew T. Rybak. Michael also leaves his sister Barbara and her husband Marian Henzel of Poznan, Poland, and his brother-in-law Bogdan Michalski of Brooklyn, NY. Michael was pre-decaesed by his Parents Joseph and Jadwiga Rybak, and his sister Marianna Rybak. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:15 am from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral Mass will follow 11:00 am at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, 787 Franklin Laeks Road, Franklin Lakes. Visiting is Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
