Obituary of Charles Walters

WALTERS, Charles John, age 80, died peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at his home of 49 years in North Haledon, surrounded by family. Chuck was a machinist with ITT Marlow Pumps, Midland Park for over 25 years until retiring in 1989. A proud American, he served his country during World War II in the United States Navy aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard and was the recipient of the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal 2 stars, and the American Theater Medal. He is survived by his four loving daughters; Janet Ploch and Paul of North Haledon, Dawn Hoey and Greg of Port St. Lucie, FL, Barbara D. Walters and Gerald Girald of North Haledon, and Kim Greene and Mark of Wyckoff, 14 grandchildren; Tamara, Charles, Kimberly and husband John, Braden, John, Adrianna, Shaina and fiancé Eugene, Dena, Russell, David, Lauren, Paul, Michail and Evan. He is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Jonathan, his sister Dorothy Jackson of Stockholm and his daughter-in-law Susan Walters of Haledon. Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife June, to whom he was married for 52 years, in 2006 and his son Robert D. Walters in 2007. He was an avid NASCAR fan, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a pillar of strength to his family. All services are private.
