Obituary of Robert A. Winter
Winter, Robert A., passed away under the superb, loving care of his nurses at Valley Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Laurelton, NY to Ann and Adolph Winter. Robert graduated from Ramapo High School in 1959; a talented artist he designed the Ramapo High School Bobcat logo. He went on to the School of Visual Arts to become one of the top photo retouching airbrush artists in the industry, beginning his career at Rio Studios in Manhattan. The onset of computer art led Robert to adapt to web design, where he flourished at Thomas Publishing for the past 18 years. Robert's dedication to his family and his work ethic brought accolades of bravos from all sides of the spectrum. In the early parts of his married life, Robert served in the NJ National Guard for six years. He was a dedicated husband, dad, worker and citizen. Robert was an honest, good, nice man, admired by everyone who met him. And they weep, with his family, that he has gone too soon. Robert was a 43 -year member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wyckoff. He was a man of faith and strong family values. He appreciated his friendships with his Ramapo Alumni group and his relationships with the oncology team he worked with at the Luckow Pavilion for these past two years. He was a brave soldier indeed. Robert enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage to his wife, Susan (nee Horton), and the joy of his daughters, Jennifer of Jersey City and Samantha of Hoboken. He and Susan sadly lost their daughter Meridyth, in 1986. Robert is also survived by his younger brother, Gerald, and his nephew Jeremy Winter, his niece, Kimberly Mako and his beloved 'therapy' cat, Zoe. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 and 7-8:30 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 8:30 pm, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
