To The Gade family- So sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom! My family were long time members of grace Church and remember your parents very well! Your Dad told us i Brigade to "Do a job big or small, do it right or not a all" To this day I quote his wisdom! My God Bless you at this your hour of sorrow! RIP!

Things I remember about my mother-in-law Dorothy H Gnade
August 4, 2013 at 7:10pm
In the 43 years I knew Mother Gnade, these are some of the things I remember:
~~She was a fine Christian woman who read her Bible every day, memorized Scripture, spent hours in prayer for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She prayed for their salvation in Christ most of all. She also loved singing the old hymns.
~~She was very encouraging to a lot of people with her card ministry...she did not drive, but kept the postal service in business with the many cards she sent out.
~~Generously gave to many missionaries and mission groups.
~~She had a ready smile for you when you visited her--really up until the past couple of weeks.
~~She was faithful to Dad for over 50 years.
~~She and Dad came to visit us in Maine at least a couple of times a year. We, too, live away from our children and grandchildren, and we are trying to follow their example to visit as often as we an.
~~At her home, a beef roast graced the dinner table each Sunday.
~~Apple sauce was an acceptable side dish to any meal.
~~Parsley potatoes with grilled london broil were common when we visited in the summer.
~~Our children remember being given a lemon drop in the car on the way to church when we were together.
~~She had a real sweet tooth for candy and desserts. She used to say in the nursing home when we would visit after Christmas and gave her peanut brittle I had made for her "I was sitting here praying you would bring me more of this."
~~She wrote a lot of lovely poetry.
~~Coffee "and" was common most nights before bed.
~~Competitive card games...Uno, Rook, progressive rummy, and others. She and her children challenged each other to Scrabble and she could hold her own until a few years ago. She was also an avid reader.
~~She crocheted her children and grandchildren an afgan for their beds to remember her by. Eventually she was unable to crochet due to her arthritis.
I'm sure I will remember more, but these memories were what came to mind when writing this. If other Gnades read this and wish to comment on other things you remember, be my guest. We will be together in a couple of days and will be sharing more memories then. Grandma will truly be missed by us all.

loads of memories, as a child, when she and Grandpa would visit, I'd have the afternoons with her and Mom, going to the Woolworth, sitting at the counter for a grilled cheese, and just puttering around. I mostly listed. As an adult in college I'd visit every weekend I could and we'd have card games and just quiet time, by then I had taken up knitting and she would crochet... She made me an afghan and I used it, and {gasp} I even let my cat sleep on it... so she made me another one to go with the leftover yarn from one of my sweaters... she was not fond of cats or any pets, so I keep this second one safe in my blanket chest... she kept God at her side always, and I'll see her again soon, in light of eternity everything here is soon...
