Obituary of Audrey Nelson

Nelson Audrey L.(nee Lawson), 83, died peacefully July 29th 2013. Audrey was born in Orange, NJ and grew up in Montclair. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence B. Nelson in 2009. Audrey and Larry moved to Franklin Lakes in 1966 where they raised their children, Holly Nelson Rickert and her husband Doug Rickert of Wyckoff and Scott Palmer Nelson and his wife Mariella of Wyckoff. She leaves behind her loving grandchildren Lindsay, Caroline, Colin, Benjamin, Liam, Grace and Lily. Audrey attended Wheaton College and received her BS from NYU. She worked as a bacteriologist and allergist assistant to Dr. Joseph L. Goldman in Manhattan before retiring in the 90's. She spent countless hours volunteering for local charities and Planned Parenthood. Audrey was a church and choir member of High Mountain Presbyterian Church, the Pro Arte Choral, Ridgewood Country Club and former member of the Indian Trail Club. Audrey's life was full and varied. She loved music, the Arts and travel, especially sharing all with friends and family. Her travels took her around the world many times over and her love of music kept her at the opera, ballet and theater regularly. She thoroughly enjoyed attending all her grandchildren's performances and sporting events. She will be greatly missed by all. The Family will receive friends, Monday, August 5th, 4-8pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff (www.vpfh.com). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 6th, 11am, at the High Mountain Presbyterian Church, 730 Franklin Lakes Rd., Franklin Lakes NJ.
