The St. Elizabeth statue In Memory of Anne "Nancy" Cannon is so that future residents will know the committment of one who spent nearly 1/3 of Her Years in a ministry at St. Elizabeth's that made sure residents of the Harrison House would receive warm, cooked, nutrtitous meals. This came at a time when many would not even acknowledge the need... let alone work to fulfill it.

Nancy's life reflected Jesus. She had for many years organized parishioners of St. Elizabeth (Wycoff) to bring nutritious meals to men and women living with HIV/AIDS at the Harrison House in Paramus. Although she had many who help, she also took on the ministry herself, both cooking and delivering... as well as organizing Christmas giving for up to 8 individuals who quite often had no family but those they met through Harrison House. She took the ministry seriously and never let it lapse. She began the ministry at a time when the plague was still killing, within a few years, almost everyone it touched. Then Harrison House was more of a place for people with nowhere to turn could live out their last days in dignity. She never questioned who, how, why, she just did it because it was needed. She, and those she got to help, brought nutrition, but also, love. People who knew her keep her spirit in mind as they continue the ministry of feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, and giving to the poor. Today the home is there more often for those who have been hit hard by the affects of HIV/AIDS and are using this opportunity to regain health and resources in hopes of one day living independently again. I only knew Nancy through this ministry and felt I needed to share how she gave to the Lord by giving to the least. She is an example to the residents to not stop fighting ever. We did not know that she too was suffering. We wish we could have given her an ounce of what she still gives to us.

Your offered your motherly love, lessons, & caring to the kid across the street. I would have never become the person I am today if you didn't open your home and heart to me. I will miss you dearly.
