Obituary of George Zumbano
George L, of Waldwick NJ passed away peacefully at home on Friday May 17th, he was 87 years old. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on September 6, 1925. George is survived by his wife Marie ( nee Wickenheisser), his son George (Gerri) of West Chester PA, his daughter Barbara Ten Eyck of Galloway NJ, and his son James (Carol) of Waldwick NJ. He is also survived by his step children Kathy Garbaccio of Glen Rock NJ, Mark Wisnewski (Denise) of Sparta NJ, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. George was a WWII naval veteran and served in the submarine service in the South Pacific. George was a watchmaker by trade and founded Plaza Jewelers of Waldwick in 1952, until his retirement in 1998. George was the last surviving charter member of the Waldwick Lions Club and was its President in 1956. George was dedicated to his family, an avid golfer and very active in the town of Waldwick.
Visiting will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 5:00PM - 9:00 PM at VanderPlaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 AM and the interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Paramus. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in George's memory be made to The Waldwick Lions Club, P.O. Box 156, Waldwick, NJ 07463 or to The Valley Hospice, 15 Essex Road, Suite 301, Paramus, NJ 07652.
