Obituary of Edward Pruim

PRUIM, Edward age 77 of Hawthorne died peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Born in Wausau, WI, Ed came to Wyckoff with his family in 1938. He attended Midland Park Christian School and Ramsey High School. Ed was a partner in the Hawthorne Laundry, Inc. for 40 years before his retirement in 1998. During his retirement he enjoyed working as a crossing guard in Wyckoff and making pickles for family and friends. Ed was a lifelong member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Mae Arlene (nee Baker), his devoted children, Edward J. Pruim and his wife Michelle, Susan Gjeltema, Douglas G. Pruim and his wife Barbara and Wendy S. Nystrom. Ed also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Mark (Becky), Matthew (Carrie), E.J., Grace, Heather, Maggie, Douglas and Luke, as well as his great grandsons, Corey and Austin. Also surviving are his sisters, Dorothy Carlson and Eleanor Unterstein. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park, NJ. Interment will be private in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visiting is Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church or the Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps., 970 Goffle Road, P.O. Box 200, Hawthorne, NJ 07506.
