Obituary of William Lackey

William C. Lackey of Franklin Lakes died on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the age of 95. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In 1947, he married Helen (Mueller) Lackey. Bill was employed for 37 years as a tool & die engineer for Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Co., in Cleveland, Ohio. He engineered parts for the landing gear on Apollo 11, the spaceflight that landed the first astronauts on the moon. In 1984, he moved to Belleair Bluffs, Florida and became an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen; their son Scott and his wife Eileen; a grandson Sean and a granddaughter Erin. Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 2 - 4 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service will be held on Sunday beginning at 3 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
