Obituary of Eleanor Ten Kate

TEN KATE, Eleanor (nee Van Hook) age 94, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. Eleanor was born in Paterson and was a lifelong resident of Midland Park before moving to the Christian Health Care Center in 2008. She was a member of the Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prospect Park. Surviving are her loving daughters, Nelva and her husband George Martin and Joyce Priestner, her son Bernard Haven and his wife Ruth and her step-daughters, Doris Zeeuw and Elaine Dansen. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Eleanor was pre-deceased by her 1st husband, John Haven in 1969, her 2nd husband James Ten Kate in 2009 and her son-in-law Dennis Priestner in 2008. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 AM from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will follow in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. Visiting is Tuesday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508 or the Christian Health Care Center Employee Fund, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
