Obituary of Maurice O'Leary

Maurice "Joe" O'Leary, 79, died Friday, February 22, 2013 following a brief illness. Born in the Bronx he was a long time resident of Waldwick and Oakland. A US Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #57 and the VFW Post #1049. Joe was a Comptroller at Burlington Industries in New York before retiring in 1998. The O'Leary family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the members of the Waldwick American Legion Post #57 for "the chair" which was reserved especially for Joe and for the kindness extended to him in his final years. Beloved husband of Mary for 48 years; Loving father to Debra Seiter and her husband Christopher, and to Thomas O'Leary and his wife Kathleen; Doting grandfather to Caroline, Brian, Katherine, Kevin and Joseph who will dearly miss their "Grandpa Joe", and cherished brother of Timothy O'Leary and Kevin O'Leary. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 2 - 4 PM and on Monday, Feb. 25 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM at VanderPlaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff (www.vpfh.com). The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Church in Hohokus with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
