Obituary of Joseph Gretkowski

GRETKOWSKI, Joseph age 82 of Wayne, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Joe was born in Glen Lyon, PA on August 19, 1925. He was a former resident of Lyndhurst before moving to Wayne 8 years ago. Joe was a Conductor for New Jersey Transit for more than 37 years before his retirement in 1987. He served his country during WW II in the United States Marine Corps, and was a member of the Marine Corps League. Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Catherine (nee Gretkowski ), his devoted son John J. Gretkowski and his wife Maria of North Haledon and his adoring granddaughters, Rachel and Alexa. Joe also leaves his brother Stanley, and sister Ann Broski. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:00 am from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will follow 10:00 am at St. Gerard R.C. Church, 501 West Broadway, Paterson. Interment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa. Visiting is Wednesday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
