Ted was a very dear friend, and he, Karen and I spent much time in each other's kitchen talking and laughing. We never seemed to run out of things to talk about - music, politics (yes, politics), family, cooking. Everything was open for discussion (sometimes rather heated discussions, at that). When leaving my house one time, instead of walking down the front porch steps, Ted thought it would be fun to jump over the rail. He walked on home and didn't realize until the next day that he had broken his leg. "It seemed like a good idea at the time," he said as he laughed about it. That was Ted!
