Marilyn and Walt were some of my favorite tax clients. I had the honor of being their CPA for the last 15 years and it was always a pleasure to see them even if it was typically only once a year. My favorite memory of them (and of two of their grandchildren) was a number of years ago when my daughter and I attended a 4th of July fire works display at the Landings on Skidaway Island where Marilyn and Walt lived for years. My daughter was taking photos of the people getting ready to enjoy the fire works for a local magazine when she spotted two cute youngsters and asked them if it was OK for her to take their photos. They said sure and when we asked them who they were with, they said the Peters! When I asked them if their grandparents were Marilyn and Walt, their eyes got big as they tried to figure out what magic trick was happening. When I explained I did their grandparents' taxes the magic disappeared, so the children wandered off to continue playing before the fireworks started. My daughter and I tracked down Marilyn and Walt and told them we just took pictures of their grandchildren to put in the local magazine and we all had a nice laugh. Like all of their family and friends, I will miss Marilyn and Walt a lot.
