Lord knows how much I miss her so...Thoughts of happiness and sadness run through my mind as I try to comprehend with the fact that she is no longer here. As much as my heart breaks, I can only fathom how much Steven, their girls and her parents all miss her, love her and wishes that she was still here. I pray for comfort and peace through this very difficult time with strength to get through each and every day. God knew it was time to bring Lena to heaven. She will be truly missed by all of those who knew her and loved her. Such a beautiful soul she was.

As I read the very beautiful obituary of Lena I noticed the expression ,"A Lena Hug".
I did not know that term existed but I know I felt it every time we were together. The
first time I felt it was when Lena had finished her treatments from her initial breast cancer.
It was at a family event. You see ,we both had a common enemy, breast cancer. Lena
told me I gave her hope because I had survived 5years. I assured her she too would be fine.
Whenever we met we always hugged and compared notes. Unfortunately, we both had a
second round of this disease. But this time she was the one who gave me hope. I saw this
young lady continue with her life. She worked , volunteered and was a terrific mother and wife.
I looked at her bravery and desire to fight so how could I not do the same? Thank you Lena!
Her involvement in so many organizations
tell us how much she cared about the homeless, those who needed medical assistance, education
and emotional support. This was all done in the spirit of love. To Stephen, Emily and Samantha I
promise to keep her spirit alive in all these areas she was so concerned about. God Bless you .

I’d like to send my sincere condolences to Steve and the girls. I’d worked with Lena for 5 years and to say it was a pleasure would be an understatement. She was a beautiful person inside and out, had a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone. She truly loved her job and touched the lives of many children as well as their parents and all of the staff at Bayonne Head Start. She will forever be missed and never forgotten.
