Bye, Dad. You were so widely loved - if only you could have read all the remembrances on Facebook. Way more than even your banner year of senior yearbook comments about "Mr. Albert's jokes." You would have been humbled, as you always were. I'll love you forever and miss you even longer. Thanks to you and Mom for everything, but especially a love of family, a sense of commitment to community and the values of hard work. Bye Dad! (And, yes, it was a good one - at least as good as it could be.)
Love,
Heids

As a high school classmate of Heidi’s I’d like to express my sympathies to the entire family I just can’t imagine the grief of losing both parents so close to one another although we must consider ourselves very lucky to have had such wonderful accomplished loving parents for so long. May he REST IN PEACE.

To the Albert family I’m so sorry for the loss of your father. I went to Indian Hills high school and study under John Osborne where I started to go to your fathers studio at night, where I met your dad when I graduated in 1981 your father awarded me with a summer scholarship to his studio. One of the best memory I have of your dad is whenever he like something I was doing he would say to me remember Tony the tiger it’s great. As I look at my paintings on the walls of my apartment today I think back about what great times they were and how blessed I was to have great teachers like your father .
I Would like to send my condolences for the loss of your mother as well. Christopher Wilson

Thanks for your comment, Christopher. Your comments about Tony the Tiger and "it's grrrrreat" brought a smile to my face. That was quintessential Dad. I loved reading your remembrance about studying art and how much John and Dad did for you. What a fine legacy he has left behind, in memories such as yours.

I was a student in his class at Ramapo Regional HS the first year it opened. I’m still painting (RAI) and grateful for “MR Albert” Encouraging me.

Thanks Ed. The family really appreciates your comments about Dad. It is amazing to me how many of his students remained in touch with him - even, like you, from the early years of Ramapo. The Ridgewood Art Institute was a treasured organization for Dad, even after he opened his own studio in Wortendyke. All the best to you.

Heidi, Kenneth and families,
I was so very sorry to hear about the loss of your parents.
Nothing can ever prepare you for it.
I talked to your Mom in the early 2000’s (she knew me from working in HS office).
I’d called to talk to your Dad, he’d been
my teacher at Ramapo and at the Wortendyke studio.
He was away babysitting the grandkids. I wound up talking with
your Mom, she gave me great counsel and advice. I would never even
have considered going to Art School without your Dad’s
support. I had called to share with him, after a career of working in
commercial art, I’d retired. I had finally started working again
at painting and sculpture and was having success selling my artwork
in galleries and gift stores. Any success I have enjoyed
is in no small part due to the inspiration and education I received
from your Dad. And I am not alone, I am just one of
hundreds of lives touched and changed by your parents.I consider
it an extraordinary privilege and blessing to having
been able to call your Dad my teacher and mentor.
He taught me not just to look but to see.
Thank you so much for sharing your parents with all of us.
God Bless you and grant you peace at this sad time.

Thank you for your comments and remembrances, Margaret. They were very touching to read. It is amazing to learn of all the lives Dad and Mom touched, as well as the art careers they influenced. The word "mentor" is a common theme throughout memories of Dad. Sounds like you are a very talented artist who just needed that little push to believe you could do it. Kudos to you for doing it and achieving success!

Our hearts go out to Kenny, Karen and Heidi and their families. To lose two parents in such a short time is a tremendous loss. I have so many fond memories of Uncle Al. I can still hear his laugh as he told one of his many jokes. He always loved a good joke. He was always kind and humble in spite of his many accomplishments. I think of him all the time as his paintings are hanging on the walls of my home. We will all miss him very much.
