Obituary of Robert Casey (2)

Robert F. Casey, age 72, resident of Waldwick, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020. He was born on September 30, 1947 to John and Irene (nee Dalton) Casey in New York City. Robert was predeceased by his loving parents, his younger brother, Joseph, brothers in law, Wilfredo Perez and James Dallas and sister-in- law Arlene Casey. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carol (nee Amitrano), daughter Jennifer and husband, Joseph Ciano and he was “Papa” to the two loves of his life, grandchildren, Nicholas and Sophia. Robert was the loving brother of Jack and wife Judy, Richard and wife Ellen, sister in law, Jane, wife of Joseph, Frank and wife Elaine and sisters, Irene Perez and Patricia Dallas. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Bob honorably served his country as a Sargent in the First Infinity division, “the Big Red One”, during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from the war he worked building the New York City water tunnels and later worked in the beverage industry in upper Manhattan (Garryowen’s). Prior to his retirement, he was an independent contractor working for A&E moving services. There was never a need for a map or GPS when Bob was around. His sense of direction was unfounded. He loved to play golf and looked forward to his lunches with his lifelong friends every Thursday. He was also an avid sports fan who loved the NY Yankees and the Miami Dolphins. In his later years he took great pleasure in watching his grandson excel at soccer and baseball and loved to watch his granddaughter play sports as well as dance. He was a history buff and so enjoyed challenging you at Trivia. Bob was a warm and generous person who genuinely loved his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Due to the COVID-19 virus restrictions, a celebration of Bob’s life will take place at a future date and time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roberts memory to the following: American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
