My condolences to the family on the passing of one of my favorite teachers, Miss Spikeboer. I benefited from her instruction in 6th grade in the 70's. I remember her as strict but kind, and definitely encouraging of excellence in her students. As an adult I admire her dedication to her students and Christian education. Grateful to God for giving us Miss Spikeboer!

Miss Spikeboer and her parents were true and faithful friends of our family. It was thanks to her parents that my Dutch immigrant parents could realize their dream of home ownership, and I got my first car thanks to a loan from Miss Spikeboer! We always enjoyed our visits to their home, gardens, and especially the berry bushes! Many Thanksgivings were richer because the Spikeboers were around the table. Miss Spikeboer was a devoted teacher. For years my sister and I used to help her set up her classroom and I still have some of the teaching materials she passed along to me when she retired. She was a devoted daughter, faithfully caring for her parents until the Lord took them home. She loved to travel, she loved The Holland Home, and she loved the Lord with all her heart. What a reunion there must have been when the Lord called His faithful servant Home!

Sympathies to her relatives. Ruth was a strong supporter of Bethany Christian Services which was so much appreciated when I served on the board for them. She was a strong woman & pleasant to visit with. Her desire of recent was to go to her heavenly home to be with her Lord. Now she is no longer feeble& rejoicing with the angels. God gave a great gift to mankind when he brought Ruth into the world.

Both my husband and I had Miss Spikeboer. I had her for six grader for the one year all Eastern Christian sixth graders studied in the old Riverside Cristian School building...such happy memories. Howard had her when he went to Midland Park Christian School.
We lived in Fair Lawn and attended the 4th CRC in Paterson along with Ruth and her family. It is now the Faith Christian Reformed congregation as the "4th Church building" burned down many years ago. The Spikeboer's lived one block up from our Hopper Avenue address.
My memories of Miss Spikeboer....4th Church and Riverside School are some of my strongest and joyous. The ham dinner....the fun auction/bazaar every year are doted with Miss Spikeboer memories. It was held every year at "Riverside"
I am sad; I've lost a great section of my childhood.
