A very fond memory of Sam is when I asked her to join me and my Kearny soccer friends to play in a softball league. Sam and I arrived at the field and my friends were curious as to her attire -- polo shirt and khaki pants -- and then they saw her hit. Needless to say, Sam was a HIT with my Kearny soccer friends! It was a fun summer playing softball with Sam. I hope this memory of mine brings you -- Mrs. Winter and Jenn -- some light and love during this time of sadness. Much love to you ~ JenJoern - xoxo

I, too, have known Sam over a decade working at Alger. Whenever I think of my friend, Sam, a smile comes to my face.
She was warm, funny, bright, quick-witted and a beautiful person inside and out. She was the light that entered a room.
I will miss her dearly,

It was great working with Sam all those years. She was a dedicated worker always aiming to please, down to earth with a great sense of humor. The news of her passing was truly heartbreaking, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

I miss my dear friend. She was wise, witty, kind and generous. She was one of the first people I came out to, nearly 24 years ago. Our friendship was still new at the time, but she had something disarming about her, something that made you feel instantly that she is good and can be trusted. I'll miss our Friday dinners after work. I am still impulsively reaching for my phone wanting to text her about any old random odd thing only to reminded that she is gone, but I hope that never stops, because it makes her still feel close. This is a loss for so many people. My thoughts are with her mother and sister and everyone who loved her.

We are devastated by the loss of my cousin Samantha Winter, and will miss her more than words can say. We will miss her keen mind, sharp wit, and compassion.
When we were all younger and our families got together, Sam would often get stuck with me when her two older sisters hung out with my older sister. We often played ping-pong and other games together. We told jokes and shared weird stories. She never let me feel like a tag-along, and always took time to listen and treat me like a real person, not just a kid five years her junior.
Then later on I was lucky to spend time with her as a co-worker where she was very well liked and made going to work every day fun. You could always count on Sam for a laugh.
R.I.P., Sam. We miss you.

Sam, I feel so lucky that I knew you your entire life. Losing you leaves us devastated and we are still grappling with the shock and pain of it. But please know that at a future time, when we're able to once again gather in crowds, we will come together and celebrate you and we will smile when we talk about how funny you were, how generous. How you were sensitive to others and to animals. We'll talk about how much we liked being around you. How your presence made things better. How we trusted you. How you were kind.
Years from now, when the pain is less sharp, I imagine we'll throw our heads back and laugh when we talk of you. Bright, fun, modest, loving spirit. Anyone who hears us will hear the love in our voices and know that we lost someone very special.
Always loved, always in our memory, dear Sam, we will miss you.
Safe travels friend and cousin,
I love you.

It has taken me a week to find the words to express my loss. I have been Sam's neighbor for the past 3 years but before that she worked with me and my mom placed her at our firm. Before becoming neighbors I knew Sam from riding her bike around and yelling at me for being a crazy city driver when she passed my old apartment. Post Sandy we would commiserate of the places we lived since not the best apartment buildings. 3 yrs ago we oddly became next door neighbors. I remember calling asking what apartment she was and she said 302 and she laughed saying 'wait, are you now 303!?'my answer was yep!! we are neighbors!! few months after moving in I had a fire and she was directly by my side. Scarred along with me and since then a new friendship and bond started. Over the past few years we have spent hours on our balcony chatting and laughing. Laughing at each other in the morning when caught each other in pjs having coffee, bitching about the squirrels, the birds, or the new youngins moving in. We texted daily just as friends and more during this time checking in on each other. A beautiful friend is now gone. Sam was funny, genuine, and calming. I have been wanting to text her daily. Jen and family, I am so sorry. My heart hurts with you. She was the most amazing person I have ever met. Blessed that she considered me her friend. I know she loved how I went nuts planting flowers on my balcony. I am going to plant extra flowers for her. Much love to you all and hope have the strength for this.

Samantha was a genuine jewel. My husband and I saw her just a few days before she passed away. Due to social distancing, hugs were not allowed so we had a few laughs instead. She was a loyal friend and we're so terribly sad that she is gone. We share our love & condolences to her family.

I met Sam in the summer of 1988. Just fresh off high school graduation, we both took a job at Blue Chip Cookies in Garden State Plaza. We became friends instantly. What I remember most about Sam was her crazy hard work ethic and how easy it was to make her laugh. We had a great time that summer (and several summers afterwards) serving hot chocolate chip cookies to all the mall goers and fighting over which one of us got to scoop the cookie dough onto the baking sheets and put them in the oven.
Eventually after college, we both settled into Hoboken where we got together from time to time, but not nearly as much as we should have. I really regret that.
Sam had a huge heart. She was smart, gentle, kind, funny and humble. Really, really humble. She would not like hearing all of these nice things about herself, but they deserve to be said because they are 1000% true. She will truly be missed. My heart breaks for Sam's family and for everyone who knew and loved her. This hurts.

I worked with Sam for over a decade and she was the warmest, sweetest, funniest person to know. She was such a joy to work with. When I first got to know her, I told her that her name reminded me of a detective - and we had a running joke for years, "Sam Winter, Private Eye!" She had a wonderful wonderful spirit. Will miss her terribly.

I had the good fortune to work over a decade with Sam, but I felt we were much more than colleagues. I often told here she was like another sister to me.
We shared many laughs and some tears; more good times than bad. Sam was lovely in every way and I am going to miss her sorely.
I am heartbroken and mourn with you. Peace and love.
