Nesbett Blauvelt, Jr.

Obituary of Nesbett Blauvelt, Jr.

On Monday March 2nd, 2020, Nesbett Blauvelt Jr., loving husband and father of four passed away peacefully, at his home surrounded by family, at the age of 88. Our Dad was born on July 28th, 1931 in Dumont, New Jersey to Nesbett and Evelyn (Herring) Blauvelt. He was a graduate of Dumont High school. This is where he met the love of his life Jayne, 74 years ago. After graduating, he served in the US Navy during the latter part of the Korean conflict and was stationed in the Mediterranean for a short time. Our parents married on August 29th, 1954. After getting married Dad spent his nights after work and weekends to build our family home in Nanuet, New York. It's here they raised two sons, Douglas and Christopher, and two daughters, Susan and Pamela. All of them enjoyed his loving care and support. He was known by many different names. Nesbett, Nes, Junior ,Dad, Pop, and Poppie. He was a general contractor and carpenter by trade and an extremely talented woodworker. A lover of the Mets, the outdoors, hunting and fishing and Winnebagos. We spent many summers camping through the Catskills and the Adirondacks. He loved to fish and was always chopping firewood. Upon retirement Mom and Dad relocated to Smithville New Jersey. There he would continue his passion for woodworking by making and selling crafts in the Village of Smithville. He would also spend long hours surf casting off the beaches of Brigantine. Nes was preceded in death by his father Nesbett Blauvelt Sr, his mother Evelyn, and brother Bobbie. He is survived by his loving wife Jayne, his sister, Lila Ebenhack, his children Douglas Blauvelt and his wife Yona, Susan Burke and her husband Tom, Christopher Blauvelt, Pamela Di Filippo and her husband Robert. Grandchildren Jennifer Breeden, Katie Pirog, Suzanne Moscarelli, Christopher Blauvelt, Meghan Milazzo, David Blauvelt, Jonathan Di Filippo, and Alex Di Filippo. His great grandchildren Kallista, Thomas, Shaun, Nina, Leila, Averi, and Penny. We love and miss you Pop. Forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be sent to Wounded Warriors.
