Obituary of Etta Shamsey

Etta Shamsey, 100+ years, of Cliffside Park and Toms River, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born in West New York, NJ, she lived in Toms River and New Orleans before moving to Warren 2 years ago. Etta sang with her sisters and brother during the 1940s. She was devoted to her husband Peter and family. She loved music, fashion, dancing, traveling, entertaining and preparing Italian and Armenian cuisines. Etta never missed an opportunity to swim and sunbath even in her 90s. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Etta is survived by her loving daughters Donna Radano, Alice Romano, and Loretta and son-in-law Guy Corbett, her 7 grandchildren, Nicola, Brian, Danielle, Peter, Kristen, Joseph, and Salvatore and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Peter Shamsey in 2008 and her sons-in-law Robert Radano and Salvatore Romano. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7pm on Sunday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am on Monday at Our Lady of Mt Carmel, 1 Passaic St., Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Memorial contributions in Etta’s memory can be made to the St. Jude Tribute Program, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or a charity of your choice.
