Obituary of Walter E. Boll

Walter E. Boll, age 98, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, formerly of Glen Rock, N.J, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Reverend Arthur J. Boll and Lydia Boll. After graduating from Boys High in Brooklyn, he attended New York University and obtained a BA in Finance and a MBA in Business Administration. He was employed by Chase Bank in New York City for over 30 years. He also proudly served in the US Army during WWII, being stationed in England with the 64 Field Hospital. He married his wife, Mary Lou Hauser, in 1947. They raised two daughters, Cynthia and Catherine. Walter had a love of travel, and he and his wife visited all 50 states and traveled to all 7 continents. When he was not travelling, he loved to spend his time playing tennis on the courts near his summer home in Pocono Pines, PA and with the Tennis Group of the Hobbyists, Ridgewood, N.J. A religious man, he was member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Glen Rock, New Jersey or over 60 years. When he moved to Cedar Crest, he attended the Protestant Council Sunday services. Walter is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Rhodes and her husband Robert, and Catherine Boll and her husband Thomas; three grandchildren, Jennifer Rhodes, Michael Rhodes(Jennifer) and Lars Ruff(Mariama) and two great grandchildren, Ryan and Emma Rhodes. A private burial will be held. A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled in May at the Cedar Crest Chapel, Pompton Plains, N.J
