Obituary of Albert Melzl

Albert J. Melzl, 90, of Midland Park, died on Friday, January 24, 2020. Born in New York City, Albert lived in Midland Park most of his life. Albert graduated from Xavier High School in New York City and the City College of New York. He a Korean Army Veteran who served from 1952 – 1954 and in the Army Reserves from 1954 to 1987 ending his Army career as a Command Sergeant Major. Before his retirement he was an account executive and vice president of a major New York City Brokerage House from 1954 to 2000. Albert was a member of the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Emily, his children Susan Hitt and her husband Lyle, Roberta Melzl, and Mark Melzl and his wife Joelynn, 5 grandchildren and his sister Rosemarie Voelker of Ventura, CA. Visiting hours are 2 – 5pm on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St., Midland Park, NJ 07432. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Department of NJ, 171 Jersey St., Building 5, Trenton, NJ 08611.
