Obituary of Gladys Sokoly

Gladys Sokoly, 86, of Midland Park, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020. Born in Paterson, Gladys lived in Wyckoff from 1961 to 1973 when moved to Midland Park. Gladys began working at the Christian Health Care Center and went on to work as a nurses aid at the North Jersey Training School in Totowa. She was member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Fair Lawn where served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible study leader. In 1984 she joined Faith Community Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff where she sang in the choir. She also sang the Messiah in the Cathedral Choir annually for many years. Gladys loved making floral arrangements and crafts at her home. Gladys is survived by her sons: Michael Jr. and his wife Patricia of Terryville, NY, Kurt and his wife Judy of Grand Haven, MI and Sean of Midland Park, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren with one more on the way. Gladys is also survived by members of her adopted family of the late Sweres and Dotty Sweetman, Dorthy Ann (Sweetman) Krause, Bill and Donald, the late Paul Sweetman and the late John Sweetman. Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Michael in 2016. A memorial service will be held 11:00am on Friday, January 24th at the Faith Community Church, 530 Sicomac Ave, Wyckoff, NJ.
