Obituary of Maria A Schiavo

Maria Schiavo, age 84 of Waldwick passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Maria was born in New York City where she was raised until later moving to Queens and then to NJ where she raised her family. Prior to her retirement, Maria was a bookkeeper and the Assistant Treasurer at the Old Paramus Reformed Church in Ridgewood. Maria is survived by her devoted children; Susan Harris of Ambler, John DeRosa and his wife Jackie of Saddle River, NJ and her three adoring grandchildren; Allie Harris and Brad and Justin DeRosa. Maria was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Justina Udovich, her sister Anna, and her brother John Udovich. Maria will be missed by all who knew her and had been blessed with her kindness and generosity. The family will receive friends at the Vander Platt Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ, 07481 on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 4 - 8 pm. A funeral mass will be held on December 31, 2019 at 10 am at St. Anthony’s Church 276 Diamond Bridge Ave, Hawthorne NJ. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Maria’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
