Obituary of Lucille M. Creighton

Lucille Marguerite Creighton, of Wyckoff, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the age of 90 predeceased by Francis John Creighton, with whom she was married for 65 years. Lucille was the beloved mother of Linda Schnell, Virginia Brinkerhoff, Debra Patterson, and Robert Creighton; cherished grandmother of Daniel, Kelly and Jeffrey Patterson, Shalyn, Kelsey and Mackenzie Creighton and Timothy Brinkerhoff; also survived by loving son-in-laws Harvey Schnell, Kevin Brinkerhoff and Edward Patterson. On Thanksgiving Day, Lucille was surrounded by love with family who all gathered in the Creighton home of almost 60 years. Lucille was able to share the day with her children and grandchildren and was able to express her love in return through her eyes. 

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Sharon from Valley Hospice and Beryl, mom’s aid. Sharon and Beryl sat by mom’s side to listen, share unconditional love, care, music and a therapeutic touch. Mom adored and loved Sharon and Beryl, aka “Buddy”, and commonly expressed her love by reaching her arms out to give hugs and kiss their hands.

Lucille had bountiful energy and was very active in the community as well as member of the Wyckoff Y.  She loved swimming, attending cooking classes, and walking in her high heels with her devoted Scottish terrier, MacCallie. Yes, Lucille was known throughout town as “the walker”! Lucille devoted her time and warm smile to the Valley Hospital Kurth Cottage and volunteered for the Wyckoff Board of Elections, Ditto, and Green Twig Nursery School.  She was also a member of the Wyckoff Woman’s Club. Lucille taught us the value of giving with compassion and sensitivity and the importance of serving others.  

The family welcomes all to the viewing at Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff on Tuesday, December 3rd from 4 to 8pm. The Funeral will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Wyckoff on Wednesday, December 4th at 10am.
