He was my favorite and my sisters favorite teacher or professor of any kind even after 42 years. He was my teacher in 1976. I was lucky enough to let him know that by phone call just recently. I was lucky to have him as hundreds of others. He inspired me to be an engineer.

I will never forget the time where Mr. V took me to the Edison museum after finishing a special project. We shared a special day together and enjoyed lunch at McDonalds. He was a phenomenal educator and my memories of him will be timeless.

Mr. V was one of my favorite teachers. I have talked about him many times over the years to my own children, citing his sense of humor and his love of books. He inspired his students and challenged us every day. Best of all, he smiled and laughed with us every day. I moved from Glen Rock as a junior in high school to PA, but Mr. V invited me back to the Coleman Elementary class reunion the following year and asked about all my members by name. He was a special teacher.
I am truly saddened to hear of his passing and send my heartfelt condolences to his family, who made him so proud. (I remember him talking about his twin sons and their different personalities and amazing talents.)
May you Rest In Peace, Mr. V. You will be missed.

Deeply saddened by the passing of Jay. He was a good friend and fellow teacher in Glen Rock and my memories of him are very special. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a loving and caring teacher to all his students.
My heart goes out to Terry and Jay's family whom I haven't met but heard much about over the years.

Mr. Van Delden was my teacher for 5th grade at Dogwood Elementary School in Oakland NJ. I remember him as a kind teacher who was able to stir the imagination and make learning fun, yet was firm when necessary and had the respect and love of all his students. May he rest in peace. God bless.

So sorry to hear of his passing. I had him as a teacher in 1972 I believe and he was always one of my all time favorite teachers. I was also a crossing guard and remember going to his house for a year end party. Last time I spoke with was 4th of July 1979 at Memorial Park. We had a great conversation about what my future plans were. Wonderful man and will be truly missed.
