Obituary of Darren W. Fischer

Darren W. Fischer passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday May 12, 2019 at the age of 59. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, he was a resident of Bloomingdale and Pompton Lakes. Darren was an Account Representative at Solix, Inc. in Parsippany. Prior he was a Billing Supervisor at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He was an avid reader enjoying mysteries; an avid N.Y. Yankee fan, N.Y. Giants fan, collected various comic books and attended Broadway shows. Darren enjoyed fishing and vacationing in Wildwood and playing dominos with his friends. Darren leaves only happy memories to his loving wife of 26 years Donna L. Fischer; two sisters: Dawn R. Fischer-Krowl, her husband James; Donna L. Fischer; brother-in-law-Bruce Gertsma, sister-in-law Sarah Scholten, her husband Mark; father and mother-in-law David and Garnet Gertsma; nieces and nephews: Annette, her husband Derrick Zimmerman, Allen Scholten, Andrew Scholten, Emily Gertsma, Anna Gertsma, Maria Gertsma and great nieces: Georgia and Sadie Zimmerman. Darren is predeceased  by his parents Gerald and Alice Fischer. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:30 with a funeral service commencing at 7:30 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Contributions in Darren’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, SD 57325; The Valley Hospital Foundation for the Dr. Anthony D’Ambrosio Research Fund, 223 N. Van Dien Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450 or to the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel St., Suite 200, Newton, MA 02458.
