Obituary of Herbert Witte

Herbert E. Witte, age 76, died peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2007. Born at home in Midland Park, he lived in Waldwick for 38 years before moving to Westtown, NY in 2003. Herb was an auto mechanic with Cerami Pontiac, Paramus for 47 years and he retired in 2004. He was a former member of Highlands Presbyterian Church, Allendale and Faith Reformed Church of Slate Hill, NY. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army where he was the recipient of three bronze stars. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (nee Sefton) to whom he was married for 51 wonderful years, his son Robert and his wife Eileen of Pine Island, NY, his daughter Lisa and her husband Ronald Ross of Clifton, his daughter Janice and her husband Robert Pavlick of Warwick, NY, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Joan Jackson of Stoney Hill, NY, his sister Rena Knight of Midland Park, and his brother William of Little Egg Harbor. Herbert was predeceased by his two brothers Pat "Buddy" and Richard and his sister Elizabeth VanDyke. Visiting will be on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. A funeral service celebrating Herb's life will take place on Wednesday, 9:30 AM at the funeral home.
