Sam’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

Sam was an incredibly special, incredibly gentle man. He was one of the very rare people you encounter in life that was always an absolute delight to see and to be near! We will all miss his warm and kind spirit terribly and were very blessed to be part of his family. Rest peacefully, Sam. We love you.

It was my honor to look after my father the last 4 years of his life. I always wondered why he was exceptionally hard on me through the early years of my life, but now I understand why he was. This man gave me everything I need to survive in a very tough world we live in today. Including reasoning, knowledge and the correct train of thought. I know this has been said in the past but if I could be half the man my father was I would consider myself a very lucky man, Love you Dad. Give Mom a hug for me.

Dad I miss you already. I thank you for everything you did for us and especially teaching us the importance of good work ethic so we could become who we are today. That work ethic is now passed down to my children, your grandchildren. You are and always will be our hero. My heart is broken that you are no longer with us, I couldn't have asked for a better father to have. You were always there for us and helped us all in many ways. You were a very smart, kind and loving man who was so generous to his family with everything you had. You were a very mild and gentle man who will be missed greatly and who will be loved forever. My heart is full with the thought of you and Mom being together...you are whole again. I love you so much.

To my dad, a wonderful father, husband and man who overcame many obstacles. He provided for us to the best of his ability. Although I morn your death, here I celebrate your life. He was not a man of many words but taught by example. He showed us what it meant to work hard and not complain or take things for granted. He stopped going to school before he as able to graduate high school in order to work and help provide for his family. He sent the money he made in the service home as well. He was able to secure a desk job during his service since he was the only sailor that knew how to type - at least better than his fellow midshipmen. He worked in poor conditions for low pay but overcame that by obtaining a black seal boiler license and becoming a member of Local 68 Operating Engineers. He secured a job working the old Western Union building in Saddle River for years on the 4-12 shift. He wasn't at dinner with us but when I was in grade school I used to go home and each lunch with him every day. He taught me how to fix things, save my money and invest wisely. He made a few investments that were very successful and perhaps earned more money that way than working as hard as he did, but he kept on working. Now that I think of it we never really celebrated his retirement. He loved my wife and kids so very much and treated them so very well. He and my mother raised their four children and provide many great memories. They were able to enjoy their golden years together although that was cut short by my mothers passing. My father was never the same after that and often spoke about re-joining her. I will miss you dearly dad, but make no mistake, I am who I am because of you. You are one of a kind and my hero. You are in my thoughts daily and I will love you forever. I know you will be watching over us.
Thank you for everything, rest in peace and God bless you.
