Obituary of Catherine Ferentinos McCauley

Catherine Ferentinos McCauley, 85 of Wyckoff, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2019. She was born at home to Elvera and Spero Ferentinos in Jersey City. Catherine will always be remembered for her spirit of adventure, energy, passion, determination, kindness, and generosity. Catherine loved her family and friends. Her five grandchildren brought her great joy. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, singing, playing games, exercising, volunteering, and spending time with her loved ones. She enjoyed the outdoors and taking long walks with her beloved pups, Lexi and the late Cassie. Catherine graduated from Lincoln High School, Jersey City, 1952 and the University of Miami, 1956. Catherine was affectionately named Kitty by her classmates. She was a physical education teacher in Kearny, small business owner of Game Master, Ltd., and parishioner of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Wyckoff. Catherine was a beloved wife to William McCauley for 55 years. She was a loving mother to Alexis and her husband Bruce Goria, Steven and his wife Amber, Jason and his wife Carolyn. Catherine was a doting Yiayia to her grandchildren Katrina, Morgan, Samantha, Tyler, and Sophia. She was a devoted sister to Andronicki and her husband George Christopher and sister-in-law to Thomas McCauley and Marion Ferentinos. Catherine adored all of her nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, koumbara, and in-laws. She shared a special relationship with her nieces Diane and her husband Bob Rapport, Helene and her husband Rick Fink, and their children. Catherine was preceded in death by her dear parents Elvera and Spero Ferentinos, younger brothers Jeremiah and George, and her beautiful niece Stephanie Christopher. Catherine enjoyed many lasting friendships throughout the years and held dear each and every friend. She was blessed to be in the loving care of compassionate hospice nurses and aides. We will always love our beautiful wife, mother, Yiayia, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. We will be forever grateful for her wisdom, strength, compassion, guidance, and endless love. We smile because she lived and we are full of the love that we shared. Catherine displayed a quote by Abraham Lincoln in her home, “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27th from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
