We were privileged to know and love Fr. King when he was a supply priest for us at Trinity Episcopal Church in Garnerville,NY. He was an inspiration to us all, as he continued his ministry despite his advanced age. It was always a pleasure to worship with him. We will miss his warm smile and bright spirit.
Sincerely Ellen & Eugene Head

To Jonathan’s wife and family - I am so saddened to learn of Jonathan’s passing. I knew him first at St. John the Divine and later in Ridgewood, through a weekly clergy Bible Study group. Jonathan’s gentle and wise presence formed a kind of light in our midst and his consistent ministry of compassion and humility, wit and education worn lightly still serve in testimony of his faith and vocation. I give thanks for him and share my condolences with you. There is no one like him.

The second verse of Lesbia Scott's hymn, I Sing a Song of the Saints of God, says
They loved their Lord so dear, so dear,
and God’s love made them strong;
and they followed the right, for Jesus’ sake,
the whole of their good lives long.
And one was a soldier, and one was a priest,
and one was slain by a fierce wild beast:
and there’s not any reason, no, not the least,
why I shouldn’t be one too.
Jonathan was one such priest, who knew, loved, and served his Lord.
May he rest in peace and inherit the kingdom prepared for him from the creation of the world.

Jonathan was a gifted lovely man. He devoted himself to the church, his family, and was devoted to his wife. He will be missed. He had a rare quality in that he knew how to listen and if you were speaking to him, Jonathan made you feel as if you were the most important person in the room. He never tired of his fathers devotion to Edith Wharton an aunt. Jonathan was a president of the Edith Wharton Society . Jonathan had a twin who died suddenly and unexpectedly many years ago. Jonathan held this brother close to his heart always. A loss that left an empty hole.
Yes Jonathan I miss you and will keep you in my heart always. Kristan and Dick joins me

I am so sorry to hear about Jonathan’s passing. He worked with me as an education docent at The Hermitage National Landmark for the six years that I worked there. He was a pleasure to all that knew him. I loved his stories about his life. He treasured his family and his ministry. He was loved by the kids who he took on the tours. He will be missed by all that new him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
